Wanda Fay Calvert Watson, age 77, of Irving, TX passed away at her home Sunday, May 16, 2021. She was born April 9, 1944 in Denton, Texas to Henry and Ethel Calvert.
Wanda married Robert Lee Watson on August 11, 1963 in Bartonville, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2010, after 46 years of marriage.
She was active in scouting while her children were growing up and served as en mother for the Boy Scouts and Assistant Leader for the Girl Scouts. She attended Oakhaven United Methodist Church in Irving in her later years where she also volunteered hosting homeless families. Wanda loved to cook with fondness for breads and desserts. She always received requests for her Devil's Food Cake with marshmallow creme icing and Mississippi Mid Cake. She learned to play the guitar at an early age and enjoyed singing folk, bluegrass and country music.
Wanda loved her family dearly; she was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a kind and thoughtful friend and deeply loved her siblings, and the many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survivors include sons Dan Watson and Russell Watson of Irving, Texas; daughter April and husband Tony Baker of Hurst, Texas; brother H. Ray Calvert of Irving, TX; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Wilbert Nix of Naples, Texas; granddaughters Brandy Watson, Karlie Watson and Emily Baker.
