Virginia Jo Vaughn

Virginia Jo Vaughn, fondly known as Aunt Boo Boo and Nana, passed away on February 21st, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was born on September 16th, 1939, in Irving, Texas, to proud parents Edgar Lowery "Buck" Rodges and Carrie Belle Rodges.

Growing up in Irving, Virginia attended Irving High School and later became an integral part of her community. She was a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, where her presence and kindness were deeply appreciated by all who knew her.

In October 1960, Virginia exchanged vows with the love of her life, Troy Franklin Vaughn, embarking on a journey of love and companionship that would span decades. Together, they created a loving home filled with laughter, warmth, and the joy of family.

Virginia's passion for sewing and quilting was matched only by her love for her church, where she dedicated her time and talents by crafting beautiful bags. However, it was her unique hobby of collecting chickens—ceramic, paper mâché, and more—that truly set her apart. Affectionately known as the "Chicken Lady," Virginia amassed over 500 chicken-themed treasures, each one a testament to her vibrant spirit and sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Daffney Meloon-Williams & Craig Williams (son-in-law), Tambra Money, and daughter-in-law Inez Vaughn. Virginia's love extended to her grandchildren, Tabithia Smart, Bree Smart, Troy Vaughn, Cody Williams, Melissa Justice, and Carrie Money, as well as her great-grandchild, Mason Wayne Justice.

Virginia will be dearly missed by her brothers and their wives: Terry & Rachel Rodges, Jerry & Brenda Rodges, Harley & Julie Rodges, her sister and husband, LeNora & Edward Bothe, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Troy F. Vaughn, her son, Kinneth F. Vaughn, her parents, Buck & Carrie Rodges, her sister and husband, Nancy & Twyman Doyle Irick, her brothers and wife, Kenneth & Pam Rodges, her brothers, Donald Rodges & Larry Rodges, and her nephew, Dale Irick.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Emerald Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for their compassionate care during Virginia's final days.

Virginia Jo Vaughn's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and laughter. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. May she rest in eternal peace.
