Obituary Van Ray Hulsey, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday August 12, 2020. He was born on May 26,1934 in Roosevelt, OK to Charlie Thomas Hulsey and Pearl Elizabeth Hulsey. He was raised in Glen Rose, Arkansas, the youngest boy of 8 children. His love of Basketball was a big part of his life in high school. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation where he proudly served and became an airplane mechanic. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary Sue Landreth in Traskwood, Arkansas in 1956 and spent the next 64 years of his life celebrating and enduring life's ups and down. Through it all, they had 6 children of whom he was extremely proud of and a lifetime of wonderful memories. He worked multiple jobs and sacrificed so much to keep a roof over his family's head and food on the table without ever complaining. But first and foremost in his World was his unwavering faith in His Lord Jesus Christ. He really talked the talk and walked the walk of a good Christian man. He attended First Irving Church where he greeted people by the Chapel door each Sunday morning for the last 2 decades. He enjoyed the interaction with the younger people especially. Family was a top priority for him and he helped raise his kids in an environment of Love and encouragement, ready to lend a hand or fatherly advice without condition. He became an expert bird house builder in his later years. He always had a smile to give and a kind word to share. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Oliver, Harlan, Rueben, Glen, Kenneth and this son Thomas Christopher Hulsey. He is survived by his sisters Brenda Locke of Malvern, Arkansas and Carra Kumpe of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. He is also survived by his adoring wife of 64 years, Mary Sue Hulsey as well as his son Larry Hulsey and his wife Alene of Irving,Vanessa Yates and her husband Barton of Lewisville, Sheryl Jones of Grand Prairie, Jan Rose and her husband David of Irving, Kathy McWilliams and her husband Robert also of Irving. Family life was very important to him And he is survived by 15 grandchildren Jason Hulsey , Lyndsey Jensen, Jonathan Hulsey, Nicholas McWilliams, Heather Berg, Andrew Hulsey, Brian Hux, Lauren De La Luz, Logan Yates, Victoria Hulsey, Adam McWilliams, Micheal and Marissa Harrell, Veronica Stehens and Trevor Hulsey, all of whom he adored. As well as 13 great grandchildren, Charlie Berg, Ann and Elena De La Luz, Caden and Kennedy Jensen, Brendan Hulsey, Alora White, Zoey Tan, Anthony Harrell, Angel Graham, Jasmine Miller, Andrew and Lucas Harrell and one Great, great grandchild Logan Miller. As well as a multitude of adored nieces, nephews and in laws. The family will receive friends and family at 5:00-7:00 PM August 14th at Chism-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, August 15, 2020 also at the Funeral Home with interment services following at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. Service Information
