Shelbie Lynn Hughes, born on October 8, 1997, in Dallas, TX, passed away on January 1, 2025. Shelbie was the cherished daughter of Thomas Alexander Hughes Jr. and Crystal Ann Schwind. Raised in Bedford, Texas, she attended Trinity High School where she excelled as an all-star pitcher and home run queen on the softball team.
Shelbie embarked on her professional journey at the tender age of 16, working for Softball World in Euless, TX. Her career path in workers' compensation insurance reflected her compassion and commitment to assisting others. A devout Christian, Shelbie carried her faith closely.
From age four, Shelbie was an avid sportswoman, particularly passionate about softball. Beyond her athletic talents, she was known for her belief in teamwork and her infectious enthusiasm on and off the field. Shelbie cherished the outdoors, hiking, and spent joyful times with her beloved pets, Rex and Alicia. She also enjoyed boating trips with her bestfriend, Jordan.
Shelbie experienced the misfortune of breaking the same ankle twice, both times during her beloved sport of softball—at age 12 while learning to slide, requiring surgical intervention, and again while heroically sliding into home for a scoring home run. On both occasions, her father lovingly carried her off the field.
Shelbie's legacy continues through her deep impact on family and friends. She is survived by her parents, stepmother Nikki Danduran, sister Sheila Hughes, niece Sarina, sister Taylor Luttrell and niece Daphnee, grandparents Glen and Judy Lilley, Thomas and Sandra Hughes, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by Andrew Titone, whom she called her Knight in Shining Armor.
A testament to her generous spirit, Shelbie donated her body for organ transplantation and medical research, aiding countless individuals and contributing to scientific advancement. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the medical team for their dedicated care.
Shelbie's vibrant spirit, boundless energy, and unwavering determination will be profoundly missed but eternally remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
