Roger Dale Combs

Roger Dale Combs, age 73 of Irving, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at his beloved home with the love of his life Linda Gann and step daughter Brittney Van Camp by his side. He was born on October 17, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to William and Willie Combs. They both preceded him in death along with three brothers and one sister. Roger serviced two tours of duty in the United States Army in Vietnam as a paratrooper and door gunner with an honorable discharge in October 1971 earning a Purple Heart. He was so proud to serve his country. Roger worked for GTE/Verizon and retired after 26 years. He was currently employed with Irving Independent School District for 11 years. Roger liked collecting coins, pawn shopping, garage sales and spending time with family and friends. He was always known as the energizer bunny because he never would slow down. Roger never met a stranger and everyone that met him loved him. He was truly an amazing man who will be dearly missed. He was a loving and caring and amazing father and step father. He leaves behind two daughters, Pamela Donelson of Mansfield and Christine Combs of Sulphur Springs; step daughter Brittney VanCamp; step son Joshua VanCamp both from Irving; brother Gerald Combs of Irving; fiancé Linda Gann of Irving; ; 3 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and numerous nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 24th from 5-7 p.m. at Chism-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th at Chism-Smith Funeral Home with interment following at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
