Robert Ernest Clements

October 28, 1935 — March 21, 2025

Robert Ernest Clements, left this world on March 21, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on October 28, 1935, in Peacock, Texas, he grew up in Peacock and Pampa, Texas, where he formed the foundation of a life characterized by faith, music, and dedication to helping others.

A graduate of Pampa High School, Robert pursued higher education at West Texas State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance and a Master's in Religious Education from Southwestern Theological Seminary. His commitment to his faith and love for music led him to serve as Minister of Music at numerous Baptist churches throughout Texas and Virginia, including First Baptist Church in Happy, Shamrock, Quitman, Spearman, and Fannin Terrace Baptist in Midland, before becoming South Norfolk Baptist’s Minister of Music.

In addition to his work in ministry, Robert served as a CPL in the Texas National Guard from 1953 to 1956 as a radio mechanic. He continued to leverage his technical skills and passion for communication during his time with the U.S. Navy, stationed in Hawaii and Midway Island from 1957 to 1961 as a chief radio mechanic and ham radio operator. The Sunday before Christmas 1956, while serving in Hawaii, Robert spent the day and evening at church and missed a training flight he was listed to be on. That flight crashed into the ocean, killing all but four servicemen. In awe, of God’s providence that he wasn’t on that plane, Robert committed himself to service for the Lord.

Robert's love for trees, coupled with his entrepreneurial spirit, led him to establish RC Tree Service in 1982, a business that thrived for nearly 35 years and became his mission field. He put his heart into every project and developed lasting relationships with his customers, often engaging them with his playful sense of humor and sharing the gospel. Devoutly dedicated to his church, Robert was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church for almost 50 years. He served as a deacon for 38 years, bringing his musical talents and compassionate heart to the community. His commitment extended beyond the church doors as he actively participated in Texas Baptist Men Disaster Relief and Chainsaw Ministries, where he played a pivotal role in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters across various states. His international mission trips to Israel and Greece exemplified his unwavering dedication to service.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Clements, who he married on December 29, 1961. Together they built a loving family, including their daughter Robin and husband Matt Laws, their seven children and nine grandchildren; son Robert and wife Jennifer Clements, along with their three children; daughter Mary Ann and husband Chris Malone, who are blessed with nine children and one grandchild; and son Mark and wife Debbie Clements, and their four children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert O. and Jessie Lee Clements, and his brothers, Bill and Bailey Clements.
