Rene Muniz

Rene Muniz Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 10, 2022 at the age of 57, while at his home in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on November 24, 1964, to Maria Rosaura Nava and Felix Ruiz Muniz. His parents preceded him in death. Only married once to the mother of his children and his high school sweetheart, Marisela Quintero. Having Rene Jr. on 7/13/81 , Chris on 5/10/87, and Roxanne on 12/08/88, were the proudest moments of his life as he became a father and welcomed the birth of his children. Rene thought at that moment that nothing could top that until he was overjoyed with the love of his grandchildren. He enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life, such as traveling to his hometown of Harlingen, Texas, and taking in the sun at South Padre Island. Fishing was his greatest joy and hobby. Rene could be found exploring area lakes and any fishing pond he came across in his spare time.
He is survived by his children, Rene Muniz Jr., Roxanne Renee (Chris) Gomez, and Christopher (wife) Muniz; brother, Felix (Susan) Muniz; sisters, Elvira (Hilario) Castillo, Estela (Victor) Toribio; brother, David (Sandra) Muniz; nine grandchildren; half brothers, Joe (Dianne) Gutierrez, Ramiro Gutierrez; girlfriend, Susannah Jenkins; and countless nieces and nephews; among numerous other family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 21st from 3pm-7pm at Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving, Texas.
