Regena (Norris) Helton

Sarah "Regena" Helton, 95, of Irving, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021. She was born on March 21, 1925 in Royce City, Texas the daughter of Jesse and Achabelle Norris. Regena grew up in Dallas, Texas and went to Jefferson High School. She worked at Western Union her whole life and was a member of Oakview Baptist Church. She met James Helton at a roller-skating rink. He gave her lessons, but he also was a competitive couples roller skater. His partner left, he was alone, and he noticed Regena; they started dating and never looked back. They later married and started a beautiful family together. Regena enjoyed shopping and genealogy. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, they were the light of her life. Regena is preceded in death by her husband James Helton; daughters, Virginia Maye, Mary Faye, Nancy Kaye. She is survived by sons, Larry Helton, James M Helton; daughter, Donna Pray; grandchildren, Jennifer Mazy, Melissa Veal, Mary Helton, Nancy Helton, Kimberly Helton, Jamie Helton, James M Helton lll, Jeremy Helton, Josh Helton, and Jordan Helton; seven great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Charlcie Farr; among numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from5-7 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10:00 am in the Chism-Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, Texas.
