Obituary Retired Officer Rebecca Charlene Fann, 71, of Irving, Texas, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Avante Rehabilitation Center in Irving after a courageous battle with brain and lung cancer. "Becky" (as those who know her best called her), was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, March 11, 1948, and was one of seven children born to Roy Ray and Billy Jean (Eastis) Tear. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas, Texas. Though she'd worked briefly at the Dallas Police Department, it wasn't until she joined the Irving Police Department in 1976 that she found her forever family. While with IPD, she'd received numerous awards and accolades (too many to list) but her real calling was her heart for serving her community. While with the department, she saw a need in Irving to provide for children and families throughout the year, but especially at Christmas and she started what's now known as the Irving Police and Fire Blue Christmas program. In fact, "Blue Christmas" has been synonymous with "Becky Fann" for many years. Becky is survived by daughters Criztina (Wesson) Jean and husband, Robert, of Williamsburg, VA; April (Wesson) Driggers and husband, Andy, of Keller, TX and six grandchildren who were her pride and joy - three granddaughters: Thorin Jean, Sorenna Jean and Cannon Jean and three grandsons: Joshua Gregorsok, Drew Driggers and Benji Driggers. Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday, January 16 from 6-8 pm, Calvary Church, 4401 State Hwy 161, Irving, TX. Services will be Friday, January 17 at 10am at Calvary Church as well. Becky has requested that those not in uniform wear blue. In lieu of flowers, if desired, the family requests donations be made to Irving Police and Fire Blue Christmas. Irving Police & Fire Blue Christmas, P.O. Box 170386, Irving, TX 75017, or by following Becky's example and getting involved and serving in your community. Service Information
