Rebeca Arizpe, born on September 2nd, 1949, in Robstown, TX, left this world on January 21st, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Luis Martinez and Ascension Pena. Rebeca was a vibrant soul, known for her warm smile and free spirit that embraced life to the fullest.
Rebeca's journey in life took her through various roles, including being a dedicated waitress and a hardworking member of a janitorial staff. However, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Rebeca had a passion for Bingo, relishing moments spent at the casino, and indulging in her love for shopping – a hobby that she openly admitted had become a bit of a delightful problem.
Her distinctive character was always accompanied by a cup filled with Sonic ice, and her hand holding a refreshing Coke or Big Red. Rebeca had a penchant for carrying her Bingo dobbers and good luck charms, with her constant companion Rosie by her side for dress-up sessions. Her love for tending to her flower bed, meticulously picking weeds, showcased her nurturing nature.
Rebeca's life stories were incomplete without the tales of her cotton-picking years – a testament to her rich and diverse experiences. If you hadn't heard these stories, you truly hadn't experienced the essence of Rebeca, affectionately known as Grandma Becky or Becky.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and family. Rebeca is survived by her six siblings, children Jesse Sanchez, Armilo Arizpe Jr, Richard Arizpe, and daughter-in-laws Melissa Sanchez, Gloria Arizpe, Melisa Arizpe. Her memory lives on through 19 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
In the tapestry of her life, Rebeca was preceded in death by Octavano Martinez, Joe Martinez, Mary Lou Martinez, and Joseph Arizpe, her grandson. The family expresses gratitude for the time and support received from Nina Arizpe, Lil Becky, Claudia Arizpe, Destiney Arizpe, Melisa Arizpe, and others.
Rebeca Arizpe's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit, zest for life, and cherished memories will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
