Ralph Clifton May was born in Dallas, Texas on March 2, 1939 and was called home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 2, 2024; his 85th birthday. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Glenda and parents Ralph and Tommie May. He is survived by daughter Brenda Gutierrez and husband Javier, daughter Beverly May, daughter Vicky Cason and husband Steven, daughter Amy Gilbreath and husband Robert, grandsons Adrian Rodriguez and wife Ryan, Cory Cason and wife Sarah, granddaughter Chelsea Wilderotter and husband Danny, granddaughters Carly and Sayler Gilbreath, great grandchildren James, Tate, Katherine, Alex, Max, Patrick and Sloane.
Ralph was raised on a small homestead in Irving, Texas. He grew up riding horses and loved all things outdoors. Being an only child, he longed for the companionship of his cousins so he spent his summers in Oklahoma with his beloved Aunt Earlene, Uncle J.C. and numerous cousins. He loved hunting, fishing and especially the rodeo where he competed in bull riding and calf roping. Following his graduation from Irving High School, he briefly attended East Texas State College where he met his future wife, Glenda. They wed on March 17th, 1962 and were married just shy of sixty-two years. He served in the Army for two years and was stationed in Germany. Following his return, he and Glenda moved to Farmers Branch, Texas to raise their family. He spent the majority of his career working at Texas Instruments in Richardson, Texas. Ralph coached his four daughters soccer teams and supported them through their time in the Future Farmers of America. In the early 1970's, he purchased land in Decatur, Texas where he would eventually build his and Glenda's dream home. It was a labor of love and their showplace exhibited Ralph's excellent craftsmanship. Following his retirement from TI, they moved to the farm and raised cattle and horses for the remainder of their lives. He loved to sit on his porch watching the deer grazing in the pasture and the hummingbirds at their feeders. Ralph was a loving husband and father; a loyal friend and he never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.
