Otila Vera Torres, a cherished soul beloved by many, passed away on May 4th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was born on September 18th, 1952, in Uvalde, Texas, to Margarito Contreras Losoya and Esperanza Vara Losoya.
Growing up in the heart of Uvalde, Otila was surrounded by the warmth of her family and community. She cultivated a passion for simple joys, finding solace in the intricacies of crossword puzzles, the artistry of embroidery, and the boundless laughter shared with her grandchildren.
Otila's life was one defined by love and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of strength and compassion, survived by her sons, Gilbert Lopez Jr. and Delmus Gurley Jr., and her daughters, TerryAnn Alcantar and Cherry Losoya. Her grandchildren, Xavier, Christina, Carlos Jr., Kamilah, Lydia, Anthony, Tommy, Juanita, and Delson, along with 14 great-grandchildren, will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.
In the embrace of her family, Otila found her greatest joy. She was the daughter of Esperanza Losoya and sister to Margarito Losoya Jr. and Jesus Losoya. Though she has departed from this world, Otila's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is reunited in eternal peace with her father, Margarito Losoya, her brother, Robert Losoya, and her beloved partner, Lee Ellison. Their spirits now watch over those whom they loved dearly.
Otila Vera Torres will be remembered not only for the love she shared but also for the kindness and warmth she brought into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal rest, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
