With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Monique Monserrate, who departed from this world on April 1, 2024, to be with the Lord. Born on February 26, 1979, Monique's journey was one marked by strength, intelligence, and compassion.
From the tender age of four days, Monique found a nurturing home with her aunt Veronica Pearson, who lovingly became her "Mom." Under Veronica's care, Monique blossomed into a remarkable individual, known for her sharp intellect and unwavering determination to stand up for her beliefs.
A voracious reader, Monique had a penchant for horror stories, often immersing herself in books whether in her room or on the couch. Her empathy extended beyond the pages as she harbored a deep love for animals, frequently bringing home strays in her youth.
Throughout her life, Monique never shied away from challenges, always marching to the beat of her own drum. Her spirit of independence and resilience served as an inspiration to those around her.
Above all, Monique cherished her family. She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Ebony Bush, and her son, Major Ray Bush, whom she adored beyond measure. Her bond with her sister, Brunilda Jenkins, and her nephews, Marquise Harrell and LeMar Harrell, held a special place in her heart. Additionally, she is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and her brother, Jose' A Martinez.
Monique's presence illuminated the lives of all who knew her, and her absence will be keenly felt. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will endure in the memories and hearts of those she touched. Rest in peace, dear Monique. You will be dearly missed.
