With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Cortez Macias, who left this world on February 20, 2025. Born on January 1, 1964, in Laredo, Texas, Mary was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Maria Elena Cortez. She grew up in Dallas, Texas, where she attended Spruce High School before building a dedicated career in accounting.
Mary’s life was defined by love, strength, and devotion to her family. She was the cherished wife of Juan Carlos Macias and the loving mother of Juan Carlos Cortez Macias III, Eric Macias, and Adam Macias. She was also a proud and adoring grandmother, a caring sister, and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Mary’s warmth and wisdom were the foundation of her family. She was the guiding light, the heart of every gathering, and the pillar of strength that held her loved ones together. Her love was unconditional, her kindness endless, and her presence irreplaceable.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Without you, there would be no children, no grandchildren—no legacy of love and unity that you so beautifully nurtured. You are, and will always be, our queen.
A visitation will be held on February 26, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Chism-Smith Funeral Home located at 403 South Britain Road, Irving, TX 75060. This will be followed by a funeral service that same day at 5:30 PM, concluding at 6:30 PM, at the same location. Mary will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
