Mario Gonzales

May 8, 1962 — July 31, 2024

Mario Gonzales, a cherished father, brother, uncle, and devoted fan of oldies music and sports, passed away on July 31st, 2024, at the age of 62. Born in Los Angeles on May 8th, 1962, to Manuel Mendoza Gonzales and Maria Elena Gonzales, Mario's family later settled in Dallas, Texas, where he attended L.G. Pinkston High School.

Mario spent his life enveloped in the joys of music and sports. His passion for oldies provided a soundtrack to his life, much like his love for the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Dodgers, which provided excitement and a deep sense of connection to his roots in Los Angeles. These passions exemplified Mario's zest for life and his loyalty, traits he shared generously with all around him.

He leaves behind his loving children, Cynthia Gonzales and Cristina Gonzales. He also leaves his heartfelt memories to be cherished by his siblings, Martha G. Watkins, Sylvia Gonzales, David Gonzales, and his nieces and nephews, Mary Jane Gonzales, Joe Angel Gonzales, and Marissa Watkins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mario is remembered as a loving son and a central figure in his family. The Gonzales family extends their deepest gratitude to the friends and caregivers who showed unparalleled support and kindness to Mario, especially during his final days. Your visits and care provided immense comfort not only to him but to us as well, reinforcing the bond of love and community that Mario valued so deeply.

A gathering to honor Mario's life and legacy will be held, where family and friends can share memories of a man who was loved for his warmth, kindness, and the joy he brought into their lives. Mario's legacy will be carried forward through the melodies of the songs he treasured and the games he celebrated, forever remembered in the hearts of those who loved him.
