Louise Griffey

November 20, 1940 — March 24, 2024

Louise Holbrook Griffey, born on November 20th, 1940, in Salyersville, Kentucky, peacefully passed away on March 24th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones at her son home with Three Oaks Hospice service. She was the beloved daughter of Grant and Fronie Holbrook, and she spent her formative years in Salyersville, Kentucky, where she attended and graduated as valedictorian from Salyersville High School.

Following her graduation, she relocated to Indiana to be closer to her relatives.  Then, in 2007, upon retiring,  she moved to Irving, Tx to be near her son.

Louise was a dedicated caregiver at Peak Community Service, where her compassionate nature touched the lives of many. She was also a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding solace and community in her faith.

In her leisure time, Louise found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid coupon clipper, skilled at finding the best deals, and enjoyed the satisfaction of mailing in rebates. Crossword puzzles, dominoes, and solitaire were among her favorite pastimes, challenging her mind and providing moments of relaxation. Gardening brought her closer to nature, and she took pride in nurturing her plants. Additionally, puzzles and researching helpful tips on health and family gatherings were activities she relished.

Louise is survived by her son, David Scott Greathouse, and his partner, Chuck Vaughn, who were a source of immense pride and love in her life. She is also survived by her brother, Grant Holbrook Jr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Fronie Holbrook, as well as seven siblings.

Louise will be remembered fondly for her kind heart, unwavering dedication to her family and community, and her love for life's simple pleasures. She leaves behind cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

May her gentle soul find eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
