Lou Alice Morgan

Lou Alice Morgan, 90, passed away on June 02, 2022, in her Gainesville, Florida home.

Lou was born on September 14, 1931, in Kirbyville, Texas to Willie & Lois (Providence) Woods.

She was a former longtime resident of Irving, Texas where she was a longtime member of MacArthur Blvd. Baptist Church. She began working for the Irving Independent School District in 1960 where she was the secretary for the principal at Irving High School until 1973 when she began working for Plano ISD.  In 1977 she returned to Irving ISD to work in the administrative building until her retirement in 1994.  Lou was a member of theIrving Retired School Personnel Association for many years and former member of Irving Book Review Club.

Lou loved to travel especially loved taking cruises with her family and friends.  She always cruised on Princess Cruise Line and was proud of always being invited to the Captain’s Dinner.During Lou’s marriage to Erik, they lived half of each year in Texas and the other half in Norway.  When Lou wasn’t traveling, she loved to go shopping and cooking for her family.

Lou moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2006 to be closer to her daughter and family.  She enjoyed the friends she made at The Villages Retirement Home.

She is preceded in death by husbands, Gene Morgan, and Erik Onstad; parents; sister, Dorothy Jones; and brothers, Donald Woods, Melton Woods, and Lawrence Woods.

Lou is survived by her daughter, Pat Shores of Gainesville, FL; son, William “Buddy” Morgan and wife, Carolyn of Kemp, TX; five grandchildren, Brent Morgan and wife, Rachel, Dr. Clark Morgan and wife, Erin, Jeff Shores, Shannon Clements, and Jeremy Clements; eight great grandchildren; one great greatgrandchild; one sister, Wanda Dodson and husband, Carroll of Newton, TX; and former daughter-in-law, Cindy Morgan.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 10-11:00AM at Chism Smith Funeral Home with funeral services following at 11:00AM.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens, Irving, TX
