Kailyn Nicole Mayfield

June 16, 2006 — April 18, 2023

Kailyn Nicole Mayfield (Cupcake, Kay) was born June 16, 2006. She was a junior at Byron Nelson High School and lived in Roanoke, Texas since the age of 8. Previously, she and her family were residents of Irving where she attended Gilbert Elementary. She passed away April 18, 2023, at the age of 16 at her residence after losing the battle of mental illness.
Kailyn will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend. She is survived by her parents, Tim and Christina, her brother Mason, her dog Sadie, her maternal grandparents Frank and Janie Flores, uncles Frank Flores Jr. and Loy Mayfield (Susan), aunt Sandra Roseberry (Kenny), and aunt Abbey Flores. Kailyn was also loved and cherished by her cousins, Madison, Landon, Owen, Noelle, Eric, Taylor, and Reagan, and her closest friends Lauren Feil and Korbin Olsen, as well as many other extended relatives and friends. Kailyn was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Harold (Poppy) and Shawnee (Nee) Mayfield, great uncle Manuel Rodriguez Sr., and cousin Juan Rodriguez III, as well as both maternal and paternal great grandparents.
Kailyn built her Christian foundation at Oakview Baptist Church. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 7. She was involved in preschool and student choir, Pre-Teen Camp and Vacation Bible School each year.
Kailyn was an active member of Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) and for two consecutive years, she qualified for National competition: winning her category in 2022. She was pursuing the educational pathway through Byron Nelson High School and aspired to teach. Three days a week, she interned at Medlin Middle School helping in a sicth grade World Culter's class. As a sophomore, Kailyn was named and honored to be selected as a CTE Ambassador for Northwest ISD.
Kailyn had a love for theatre dating back to first grade where she landed her first solo. She has been an active NISD thespian since entering sixth grade and performed in the Northwest ISD Summer Musicals for 6th, 7th and 8th grade. She continued with theatre at Byron Nelson and was passionate about being on stage.
While going to school, Kailyn worked part time at Panera Bread in Roanoke, and enjoyed her job and interacting with her co-workers and customers.
She was an avid reader and would frequently be seen reading a book, not just any book, but the thick, small print books. Kailyn's favorite things: Slurpee's, Sonic drinks, Starbucks, 151 Coffee, gaming with friends, shopping, going to the movies with family, making her own facial scrubs, baking, and she even 'mastered the art' of making sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving dinners. She was very creative and would refer to Pinterest to get new ideas for decorating. Kailyn loved thrill rides and gave the best back rubs/massages. She loved anything chocolate or caramel and if they were together, it was even better. She enjoyed spending time with family and always looked forward to any family get together, especially New Year's Eve parties at Cousin Tony's.
Kailyn enjoyed special time spent on Mama/Daughter, or Daddy's daughter dates that included going out to eat, going to or watching a movie, or traveling to Granbury to watch a play and shop on the town square. She and her dad could listen to music for hours. She loved traveling each year and would put together vacation presentations for her parents to consider.
Kailyn could light up the room with her smile and had a heart of gold. She was very generous; almost to a fault and would do anything for her family and friends. She will be missed by many and always loved.
