Julie Ann Whitten, born April 6, 1959, in Borger, Texas, passed away on December 22, 2024. The beloved daughter of Richard and Corine Whitten, Julie grew up in Clarksville, Texas, and attended Clarksville High School. She built her career as a reservations coordinator in the hospitality industry.
Julie embraced her faith as a Christian and cherished nothing more than spending time with her family. Being a mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother were roles she held dear, considering her role as a grandmother to be her greatest accomplishment. Julie’s endearing stubbornness earned her the affectionate nickname "Mule" from her older nieces and nephews. The younger ones lovingly called her "Juwee", but it was her grandson Junior who gave her the most cherished nickname of all, "G-Dawg". Intended to be “Gma”, the name humorously morphed as Junior first began to speak, and it lovingly stuck, forever marking their special bond.
Julie is survived by her daughters Jennifer Whitten Tapley and Ashley Whitten Llanas; grandson Michael "Junior" Tapley; sister Rose Huddleston; nieces and nephews Lee, Glenda (Matt), Michael (Pat), Brandon (Meagan), Leslie (Ashley), Michael, Nathan, Colby, Kylie, Chase, Annabelle, Harlee, and Georgia Jo; and brother-in-law Glen Huddleston. She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Corine Whitten, her sister Gloria Huddleston, and her nephew Lukas Huddleston.
Throughout her professional life, Julie made numerous friends and cherished her relationships with her colleagues, who brought much joy to her life. Her family extends their deepest gratitude to all those who filled her days with happiness and camaraderie.
Julie's departure has left a void in the hearts of her loved ones, who will remember her warmly as the steadfast, loving, and joyful "G-Dawg." Her spirit and love will forever be celebrated by those who knew her.
