Johnny Paul Carpenter

Johnny Paul Carpenter, age 84 of Irving, Texas went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was born on April 27, 1936 in Gracemont, OK to Charlotte Carpenter. Johnny grew up in Verden, OK and graduated from Verden Senior High School. He then attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman and Draughon’s Practical Business College where he received a Business Degree. Johnny served in the United States Army from 1958-1962 as a Recovery Specialist, stationed at Fort Hood Texas. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Badge and Good Conduct Medal. Johnny met Blanche at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church and married there on June 10, 1961. They became members of First Baptist Church of Irving in the mid 1960’s. Johnny was an avid golfer and spent many weekends on golfing trips with his friends. He worked in the Cash Management Office of Trinity Industries Inc. from January 1968 until his retirement in May of 2001 after 33 years of service. Johnny cared deeply for others and had a compassionate heart for the underserved. Every Wednesday for nearly two decades he faithfully delivered 20 loaves of bread to the Crisis Ministry in Irving, TX. He was affectionately known as “The Bread Man”. Johnny leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife of 59 years, Blanche Carpenter; daughter Susan and her husband Tom; sons, Steve and wife Samantha, Scott and Stan; grandchildren Connor and Caleb. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 26th from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Chism Smith Funeral Home with Funeral Services following at 12:30 also at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. after the Service at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
