John Richard Harper, 83, passed away on March 06, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on July 01, 1937 in Sherman, Texas to John William & Lillie Lee (Jett) Harper.
John was a resident of Kemp and prior longtime resident of Irving. He spent over 30 years in the banking and finance industry. He was a longtime former member of the Civitan Club of Irving.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lynn Harper; grandson, Michael Messerly; four sisters and one brother.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara Harper; children, Jan Harper McCorkle and husband, Wes of Wimberly, TX, Vicki Wallace and husband, Jack of Kemp, TX, Tammi Messerly and husband, Mike of Irving, TX, Bennie Crawley and wife, Teresa of Granbury, TX., Veronica Whitley of Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Kari Harper of Krum, TX, granddaughters, Kara Crowell and husband, Clay, Kailey Brown and husband, Clint. John and Barbara had 11 grandchildren and 11 great children when they brought they families together that they love dearly; and nephew Charles Wood and wife, Sharon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10:00AM at Chism Smith Funeral Home.
