James Edward Thompson

James “Topper” Thompson was born on January 13, 1949, to Jack and Jewel Thompson. He was raised with five siblings Martha Lee Marion, Johnny Thompson, Jack “Tadpole” Thompson, Myra Worsham, and Margaret Lanell Vigil. The younger Topper was a hell raiser, fighter, fisherman, hunter, set in his ways and stubborn as a mule. In his adult years he married Caroline Cooksey in 1968 and later became a dad to Kenneth Thompson and Tammy Austin. Being married paved the way for Topper and Charlie to become partners in crime until his duration. Becoming a family man did not alter his way of life as he was still full of shit and could tell stories like no other. His grandkids, Kandi Martin, Tracy Kelley, Jimmy Thompson, and Joshua Thompson all grew up on Papa’s stories of the “Good Ole” days. He was a wealth of knowledge and we called him the vintage Google. Once he discovered YouTube there was nothing he couldn’t figure out and help with. He had every tool known to man and most of them he had two. By the time his great-grandkids, Wyatt Martin, Ryan Kelley, and PJ Kelley were born he had settled down some and had taken several trips on his motorcycle and would go out metal detecting. It wasn’t until his later years he become ill, even more stubborn, and hardheaded which is why we are all gathering to remember him. He will be missed by several and remembered by all.
Dad was a simple man so please come in t-shirts and jeans to honor his legacy.

Topper died on Thursday November 25, 2021, Thanksgiving, which was fitting as he loved food and had to have banana pudding with each holiday (or any other time).
