Hanes, Harry Edwin, 86 passed away on November 17, 2020 in Greenville, Texas. Harry was born on January 27, 1934 in Commerce, Texas to Harry Batt Hanes and Mable Kate (Thompson) Hanes.
Harry was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War Conflict.
Upon his return from service Harry went on to work in warehouse management, and later in fulfillment, with his last position being in accounts payable for Mission Foods. He was raised in Commerce where he later returned to live his final years near his siblings.
Harry was most proud of his time in the military. He loved spending time with his family, football and anything sweet to eat.
Harry is survived by his two daughters, Patty Hoskins and husband, Brad of Flower Mound, TX, Cindy Mize and husband, Kenny of Dallas, TX; three grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; four siblings, Elizabeth Brewer and Mildred Arnold both of Commerce, TX, David Shepherd of Dallas, TX and Danny Shepherd of Klondike, TX. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2020 at 1:00PM at Chism Smith Funeral Home Chapel, mask are required inside the funeral home. Due to Cemetery Covid-19 restrictions, Interment will be private with immediate family members only, held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 10:00AM at Dallas- Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
