Glenda Joyce May

Glenda Goolsby May was born on May 14, 1940 in Winnsboro, Texas and went to be with her Lord on January 3, 2024 in Decatur, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father Arthur Lee Goolsby; mother Jewel Marie Boyd; father-in-law Ralph May and mother-in-law Tommie May. She is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Ralph May; daughter Brenda Gutierrez and husband Javier; daughter Beverly May; daughter Vicky Cason and husband Steven; daughter Amy Gilbreath and husband Robert; sister Carole Ramsey; grandson Adrian Rodriguez and wife Ryan, and great granddaughter Tate; granddaughter, Chelsea Wilderotter and husband Danny and great grandchildren  James, Katherine, Alex and Max; grandson Cory Cason and wife Sarah and  great grandchildren, Patrick and Sloane; granddaughters, Carly and Sayler Gilbreath; niece Sharon Holt and nephew Chuck Ramsey.

Glenda grew up in Newsome, Texas where she attended Pittsburg High School as well as East Texas State University where she met her future husband. Upon marrying Ralph, they settled in Farmers Branch, Texas. Glenda was a nurse for many years, followed by owning and operating a florist business in Coppell, Texas. She loved arranging flowers and the joy they brought to others. She was an expert seamstress and loved sewing, crafting, thrifting and restoring old furniture. After retirement, Glenda, along with Ralph spent the past twenty three years settled in a home they built in Decatur, Texas. She became well known for her famous Texas State Fair award-winning yeast rolls and delicious pies. Glenda loved all animals and took in many strays over the years including three motherless kittens she recently rescued. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she loved decorating, cooking and spending time with her family. Her latest project was making beautiful homemade Christmas stockings for local veterans. She was extremely passionate about serving and giving to others and was strong in her faith and love for the Lord. Glenda was the foundation of her family and they were her greatest love. Her kindness, selfless spirit and boundless love will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all.

Memorial remembrances can be made to the Wise County Heritage Museum in Decatur, Texas.
