Georgia Nelline Christy, 92, passed away on March 20, 2021 in Plano, Texas. She was born on January 22, 1929 in Brownfield, Texas to Willie F. Christy and Mattie Myrtle (Greer) Christy.
Georgia was a longtime resident of Irving and member of Woodhaven Presbyterian Church.
She graduated Irving High School at the top of her class. Georgia eventually moved to southern California to be with her older sister where she worked in many office type jobs. She landed a job working for World Vision, Inc., which is a non-profit international company doing humanitarian work. Her last 20 years before retiring was with the Covina-Valley Unified School District. This job allowed to get in on the ground floor of 'main frame' computer technology.
Georgia loved to travel and was able to visit countries such as Israel, Russia, Finland and many others. In addition to her world travels, she travelled through the US visiting all of her brothers and sisters and their families. Staying active was always her goal, and she loved swimming for both recreation and exercise.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruby South and Margaret Williams; and six brothers, Royce Christy, Bill Christy, Roscoe Christy, Carl Christy, J.E. Christy and Norman Christy.
She is survived by her loving numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family will receive family and friends for visitation on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 5-7PM at Chism Smith Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 at 3PM at Little Elm Cemetery in Little Elm, Texas.
