Floyd Harrison Cutler, Jr

September 16, 1958 — May 13, 2024

Floyd Harrison Cutler Jr., affectionately known as "Grumpy" or "Grumps" by his family and friends, and lovingly referred to as "Papaw" by his granddaughters, passed away on May 13th, 2024, in Irving, Texas. He was born on September 16th, 1958, to Floyd Harrison Cutler Sr. and Frances Estelle Cutler. Floyd grew up in Dallas and remained a proud Texan throughout his life.

He pursued education at Lincoln Tech and Northlake College, embodying the spirit of a Jack of all trades. Floyd served his country with honor, dedicating six years to the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal, earning accolades like the Rifle Expert Badge, Good Conduct Medal, and Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.

After a 30-year career at U-Haul in various roles, Floyd retired, but his spirit for work and passion for helping others never waned. He found joy in part-time roles at Home Depot, golf operations at the Four Seasons, and maintaining pools for a friend's business. Floyd's interests spanned from golf, bowling, soccer, and racquetball to coaching his son in various sports and cherishing moments with his family.

His craftsmanship was evident in the projects he undertook, from building intricate swing-sets and merry-go-rounds for his granddaughters to crafting a cherished farmhouse dining table for his beloved wife of 45 years, Sylvia. Floyd and Sylvia, who were Jr. high school sweethearts, shared over five decades of unwavering love and companionship.

Floyd's straightforward nature along with "Floyd Facts" and willingness to lend a hand endeared him to all who knew him. He was a reliable friend, always ready to offer help and support. He is survived by his wife Sylvia, children Chrissy and Christopher, grandchildren Alanna, Courtnie, Savannah, Chloe, Carlie Sue, bonus grandsons Jordan and Jaylen, several nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished friends and family.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Floyd Sr., and his sisters Carrie Dossey, Anna Adams, and Shirley Cutler. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated, along with consideration for organ donation.

The Cutler family expresses deep gratitude to friends, family, healthcare professionals, and Pathway Hospice for their love, support, and care throughout Floyd's health journey. His legacy of love and hard work will continue to inspire all who knew him.

A private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later time.
