Farley Franklin Meadows

January 8, 1945 — December 10, 2023

Farley Franklin Meadows, affectionately known as Pawpaw or Hoss, passed away on December 10th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a life well-lived. Born on January 8th, 1945, in Page, Virginia, he was the beloved son of William Francis Meadows and Sarah Ann Meadows.

Farley grew up in the hollers of Buchanan County, Virginia, and graduated from Grundy High School. A man of courage and dedication, he served two tours in the Vietnam War as part of the 173rd Airborne Brigade. His bravery and commitment to service were truly commendable.

Throughout his life, Farley wore many hats, working as a coal miner in Virginia, an 18-Wheeler driver, and a sheet metal mechanist. His strong work ethic and versatility made him a respected member of his community.

A devoted member of the First Methodist Church of Irving, Farley found solace and strength in his faith. He married Maria on July 27th, 1968, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Farley had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, grilling, yard work, and traveling. However, his absolute favorite pastime was spending quality time with his grandsons, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable moments.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maria E Meadows, daughters Donna J Cauley (Jason Cauley) and JoAnne Meadows-Custer (Michael Custer), grandsons Scott Cauley (Jeffrey Rudrick), Ian Cauley, and Ethan Custer, as well as brothers Jerry Meadows, Eddie Meadows, sisters-in-law Lovella Meadows, Bernice Meadows, Alice Meadows, Conforita Cruz, brothers-in-law Guadalupe Cruz, Fidencio Martinez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Farley also leaves behind long-time friends Paul James and Isabell Martinez.

Farley was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sarah Meadows, and siblings Herman, James, Harry, Hank Meadows, Betty Charles, and Judy Meadows.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all the medical staff from VITAS Hospice, DFW VA Hospital Network, and everyone who offered prayers and support during this difficult time.

In celebrating Farley's life, let us remember the joy he brought to those around him, the sacrifices he made for his country, and the love that will continue to live on through the memories he leaves behind. May he rest in eternal peace.
