Eulojio “Joe” Lara Torres
beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and dear friend, passed away on May 19, 2024, at the amazing age of 95. Born on March 11, 1929, in Chilton, Texas, to Selestino and Enemencia Torres, and later growing up in Dallas.
Joe met the love of his life, Mary Torres, and were married September 17, 1949. After almost 75 years of marriage, they had created a life-long bond of love and commitment to each other. Joe was a Corporal in the US Army, and together they traveled to several states and were never apart. Upon completion of his military service, they settled in Irving, Texas where they began their dreams of having a family, adopting 6 children, and loving each one as if they were their very own.
Joe knew the true meaning of hard work and dedication. He was a great provider for his family. Joe was the proud owner of EL Torres Dental Lab and created a name for himself as a dental technician. He retired at the age of 87 years old.
Joe had a passion for the outdoors, working with cattle, raising chickens, and enjoying gardening. He loved spending time at his farm and relaxing at the end of the day fishing. Many fond memories were made at Rancho Alegre and will continue in our hearts forever.
Joe enjoyed time with family and friends and was an inspiration to those around him. He cared tremendously for each person and kept them in his daily prayers. Joe was an Ordained Deacon and a member of First Baptist Church Irving. He loved what fellowship meant to him and his faith and love for God was strong.
Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, son Ronald, daughter Mary Jo, and other family members no longer with us. Joe is also survived by his children and their families: Robert Torres, Mona DeLaTorre, Randall Torres, and Lisa Mendoza. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Joe will always be remembered for his kindness, hard work, and being the best dressed man around. Always sporting his hat of the day! Joe’s legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. Thank you to all who have loved him dearly. May he rest in eternal peace.
