Erma Mendez Ocanas age 62 of Irving, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. She was born in August 15, 1959 in Brownsfield, Texas to Alfredo and Angelina Mendez. Her father preceded her in death along with her siblings Alfredo Mendez Jr. and Yolanda Hernandez. She married her soul mate, Foster Ocanas on May 27, 2006 in Arlington, TX. Erma enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos and was always up for a shopping trip to Ross. She adored her grandchildren and was the kind of person that was always a phone call away. Erma was always the one everyone wanted to talk to and get advise from. She leaves behind her husband Foster Ocanas; daughter Erica Cortinas and husband Justin; step-daughter Michelle Ocanas; mother Angelina Mendez; siblings Eloy Mendez (Irma), Oscar Mendez, Mary Roberts, Sylvia Ortiz (Carlos), Stella Daniels; and a niece that was like a sister Lisa Perez; grandchildren, Gabriela Cortinas, Justin Cortinas, Justina Cortinas, Edward Garcia, Alyssa Tanguma, Marissa Tanguma, Andrew Tanguma and Anissa Tanguma; 5 great-grandchildren and numbers aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive guests from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 23rd at Chism-Smith Funeral Home with Rosary being at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24th at Chism-Smith Funeral Home with interment following at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
