Edelize (Willhite) Filler

Edelize Filler, age 87 a longtime Irving resident went to her Heavenly Home on Friday, March 12, 2021. She was born on August 10, 1933 in Weatherford, Texas to Ed and Gertrude Willhite. Edelize married the love of her life, William Filler on July 14, 1962 in Weatherford. He preceded her in death along with her parents and a sister Georgia Orr. Edelize was an educator, teaching elementary age children in Irving and having the honor of receiving Teacher of The Year. Her passion was her faith and being an active member of her church, First United Methodist Church of Irving and then Christ Church Irving. Edelize enjoyed serving in the children’s ministry, mentoring young mothers and leading numerous Bible Studies. She leaves behind her beloved son, James Filler and daughter-in-law Amy and numerous friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 Monday, March 15th at Chism-Smith Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 16th at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving with the Rev. Greg Beauchamp officiating.
