Clay Hamilton Cox, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on the evening of Sunday, May 2, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Clay was a third-generation Texan. He graduated from Highland Park High School then went on to receive his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas. Clay served in the United States Army Reserve Corps of Engineers as a Captain. He married Joanna Diller on June 23, 1961.
Cars and Radio Communications were Clay's favorite hobbies. In his younger days, he enjoyed rebuilding and repairing car mechanicals. In his later years, he took to the HAMM radio. Obtaining two of the three licenses and officially becoming an Amateur Radio Licensed individual with his own HAMM radio.
Clay is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Margaret Cox. He is survived by his wife Joanna Diller Cox; daughter Yvonne C. Breland and husband Jeffrey of Fort Smith, Arkansas; son Walter Glenn Cox of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter Yolanda C. Hoffman and husband James of Dallas, Texas, two grandchildren: Alec and Zhana Hoffman, and nephew Brandon Bradford, wife Julie and grand-nephew Grayson Kyle.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, May 8th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Spring Valley United Methodist Church with the Funeral Service following at 12:00 noon also at the church. Interment will follow the Service at Sparkman Hillcrest Cemetery.
