Carrie Augusta Baze, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on March 27th, 1937, in Midland, Texas, to Oswald and Beulah Evelyn Morgan Philipp, Carrie spent her formative years in Midland where she graduated from Midland High School.
Carrie married James Alfred Baze on January 9th, 1953, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. As a devoted housewife and an office manager for a small oil company in Midland, Carrie balanced her professional and personal life with grace and dedication.
A woman of deep faith who loved her Lord Jesus Christ, Carrie's life was a testament to her devotion. She served God many years through the Westway Church of Christ in Midland. She cherished reading the Bible, hosting gatherings for her church family, and engaging in a myriad of activities that fostered connections with those she loved. Her hobbies, which included planting and tending to flowers, working in her yard, hiking in the mountains, and playing games like ping-pong and card games with her grandchildren, were sources of immense joy.
Carrie is survived by her loving children, Terry Baze and his wife Becky of Irving, TX, and Joel Baze and his wife Angela of Lorena, TX. She was a cherished grandmother to Drew Baze (Kyndall), Katrina Barkley (Cody), Jonathan Baze (Kenzie), Christy Welschmeyer (John), Josie Adams (Josh), and Caleb Baze (Laura). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Karalyne, Addilyn, Kate, and Lincoln Baze; Remi, Benton, and Kora Barkley; Eva and Liam Welschmeyer; Marcus and Adele Adams; and Cora and Alan Baze. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Aultie Olive of Huntsville, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Evelyn Moran Philipp, and her siblings, Herman and Leslie Philipp, Bertha Kessler, and Peggy Wilson. Carrie leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity. The family expresses special thanks to Carrie's caregiver, Lizzy Tafirenyika, for her loving and faithful service. Memorial donations can be made in Carrie's name to Lizzy Tafirenyika at 826 S. Delaware St., Irving, TX 75060, who was not just a caregiver but a true angel and dear friend to Carrie.
Carrie’s life was marked by an abiding love for her family, a deep faith, and a joyous embrace of every day. She will be dearly missed.
