Carol Rue Dupree

Carol Dupree, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (nana), aunt, and friend, passed away June 13, 2023 at Baylor Dallas Hospital. Carol was born in Dallas, Texas, June 20th, 1944 to parents Robert Carl Connaughton and Bessie Eileen Snell. She grew up in Dallas and attended Woodrow Wilson High School where she was active in Student Council, Drill Team, and Sorority - Aplha Phi. She graduated in 1963.

She received a scholarship and attended University of North Texas for three years with a major in Fashion Design. She began working at Titche's in 1960's. She married Bob Dupree July 27, 1966. They met at Titche's where they both worked. He noticed her green dress and matching green shoes with her bright Auburn hair and he had to meet her. They married within 3 months and have been married 56 years.

Carol developed an interest in needlepoint in 70's and became a Needlepoint Designer selling her hand-painted designs to stores across the U.S. One of her Christmas ornaments was purchased during the Bush administration and is displayed at the White House. Along the way, she also became a Sale Representative for Tupperware in the 80's. She served a liaison between Library Board and Friends of Library where she helped sell books. In 2014, she received a recognition award for 21 years of service for Friends of Irving Public Library. She loved collecting dolls, baseball cards, and going garage sales adding to her collections. She enjoyed gardening, botany, and was a member of the Dallas Rose Club.

Carol had a heart for God and was an active member at Shady Grove church participating on a dance team. She later became a member at First United Methodist Church here in Irving where she attended church.

Carol Dupree is survived by her Husband, Bob Dupree, Children, Kevin Dupree and Kerri Hamilton, Grandchildren, Josh Dupree, Payge Dupree, Jared Watkins, Kasey Watkins, Sarah Hamilton, Andrew Hamilton, and Great-grandchild, Kaiden Watkins.
Family that is previously deceased by her are Father Robert Carl Connaughton, Mother Bessie Eileen Snell, Uncle Leslie Baron Snell, Aunt Nora Rue (Greene)Snell, Uncle Chesley Snell, Uncle Leroy Snell

A Memorial Service for Carol Dupree is scheduled for June 30,2023 at 10:00am at Chism-Smith Funeral Home, 403 S. Britain Road, Irving, Texas. It will be followed by a reception for immediate family at First United Methodist Church in Irving, Texas.
