Bobby Jack Sanders 86 years old went to be with his Lord and Savior August 5, 2022
Born April 6, 1936 in Agusta, Georgia to Vera and Russell Sanders
He was lovingly raised in Agusta by his Grandmother "Mama Claude" At fourteen he moved to Atlanta and attended
Druid Hills High School where he loved playing football. As he loved all sports all his life, and knew almost everything there was to know about coaches, teams and players, and loved his Rangers and Cowboys. As an adult he played softball for church and independent teams. He could pitch a mean fast ball. He loved to fish and spend time at his place in the country.
At sixteen he joined the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for nine years, and served some time in Korea.
After the service, he worked in the trucking industry until he retired from Williamson Printing.
He loved to sing and in younger years would sing solos in church services loved to sing at his church. Seems as if Bobby knew someone everywhere he went. He was such an outgoing person and had many friends.
Through the years he was a Master Mason, Life Time Member of the VFW, member of the Elks and American Legion.
Everyone loved his fish fry's and he had a secret hushpuppy recipe
He was a fighter as he overcame cancer twice. He remained cancer free until his death. His Oncologist, Dr. David McCollum once told him he was a walking miracle (and he really was), as God healed his body many times. He was always grateful he had Dr. McCollum as his doctor and friend.
He was a loving father to three children, Robbie Sanders, Pamela Baker Sanders, and Bobby Jack Sanders, Jr. He so enjoyed spending time with them.
Bobby is preceded in death by both his parents, son Bobby Jack Jr, grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by Wife Ruth, Son Robbie Sanders and wife Brenda, Daughter Pamela Baker Sanders, and grandchildren, Jacob Baker and Jason Baker and partner Justin McNeal, Zach Sanders and fiance' Amber Catlett and Ashley Naquin and husband Billy (Joe) Naquin. Great Grand children, Aaliyah, Sawyer, Cole and Easton.
The Family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00p.m.on Sunday, August 14th at Chism Smith Funeral Home, 403 S Britain Rd., Irving, TX 75060. A Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 15th at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.
