Bertha Mae Stampley, age 65, was born in Mississippi, December 22,1955, as the daughter of Blake Stampley and Emma Lou Holmes. She grew to be a very outgoing and high- spirited woman, not afraid to step outside the box. Amongst her other siblings, she grew up participating and experiencing a multitude of civil rights protests and fought for adequate tools and resources in the city of Las Vegas. She loved to share laughs and create new memories wherever she went. Her personality was dynamic and so were her dance moves. She enjoyed dancing and high energy crowds. She found herself dancing at the Soul Train numerous times. Bertha Traveled the world and embraced all that it had to offer. She became a successful real estate agent in California. She was also a dedicated employee at the Post Office, and Kraft Foods in Dallas. When The Potters House Church first opened its doors, she became a member. Her dedication to the church led her to a rewarding position as an Evangelist. Her strength and endurance were unparalleled. As a mother to more than just her own biological children, she made difficult tasks appear easy. In 1997, Bertha survived a fire that caused extraordinary damage and displacement. In 2005, she survived Hurricane Katrina. She fought every obstacle that came her way. She never allowed life to keep her down too long. When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she showed no fear and continued her fight. The strength and endurance she talentedly displayed remained on November 25, 2021. Her battle against breast cancer was not lost, God simply gave her another task.
She is survived by her former husband Tyrone Paige, oldest daughter Jakina Stampley, son Gene Gathright, and her youngest daughter Krystal Weathers. Bertha was a grandmother to Diamond Emmanuel, D’Anthoni Jackson, DeJoria Jackson, Amajie Johnson, Ronald Howze Jr, Gene Gathright jr., Kylen Gathright. Her siblings Henry, Don, and Linda amongst many other relatives and friends that she loved dearly will also miss her very much.
