Barbara Ellen (Swanner) Lovelace

January 10, 1956 — October 13, 2023

Barbara Ellen Lovelace, affectionately known as Barbara, Babs, Basy, and Birdie-mama, was born on January 10, 1954, in Magnolia, Arkansas. She peacefully passed away on October 13, 2023.

Barbara's journey began in Magnolia, Arkansas, as the daughter of Mary Helen and Jack Marshall Swanner. Her family later relocated to Dallas when she was a young girl, where she attended schools in the area. After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School, she worked as a sales clerk and food prep specialist at various sandwich shops, as well as The Casino Lounge in Downtown Dallas. She married Gary Inman and their son, Mark, was born in 1974.

In 1982, Barbara's life took a turn when she was introduced to George by a mutual friend, Tom, who also worked at The Casino. Their connection was immediate, and they were married on November 21, 1987.

Barbara had always held a deep affection for animals, but her unique love for birds truly blossomed when she began working at a bird store. She honed her special talent for breeding and caring for parrot babies.

In 2011, Barbara survived a massive aneurysm, defying the odds. Although the aneurysm affected her ability to work, it granted her an additional 12 years of precious time with her family and beloved pets.

Barbara is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Helen Friend, and her sisters, Becky Jacobs and Kay Swanner.

She is survived by her devoted husband, George Lovelace; her son, Mark Inman; her step-daughter, Joni Brock, along with her husband, Kyle, and their children, Margaret and Nathan; her nephew, Paul Hill; her niece, Tamie Hill, along with her husband, Jack Marston, and their son, Vincent; and Aunt Earline Ivy Cummings.
