Barbara Jean Gay

Barbara Jean Gay, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at the age of 80. Barbara was born on April 10, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, to Charles Walter and Wilta Olene Carroll. She spent her childhood in Sherman, Texas.
Barbara had a successful career as an Executive Assistant in both the Legal and Medical fields, where she was known for her dedication, attention to detail, and professionalism. She was an avid reader, on all subjects, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In her younger years, Barbara showed horses which brought her great joy. She was passionate about animals, and had a special way with them that made her stand out.
Barbara married the love of her life, Barry Ward, in October 2010, and they were inseparable until his death in October 2021. Although she experienced heartache and loss, she remained positive and focused on the good times they shared.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Becky Yocom and her spouse, Brad, her son, Robert James, her brother, Steve Carroll, and his spouse, Loretta, and her sister, Joanna Watson. Her family and friends will remember her for her kindness, her infectious laugh, and her love for life.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Cedar Crest in Irving for the compassionate care they provided to Barbara during her time there. They made her feel loved, cared for, and special.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, us for years to come.
