Christ was Audrey “[Mom] Lynn” Woodfin Garris’ life mission, and the beauty that spread around her reflected that mission. Mom’s journey with Christ brought His immeasurable Light to her family and the community around her, and it shined brightly through her character.
Mom’s commitment to Jesus was relentless, and it showed in her resolve to spread His Love to the world. God’s Love didn’t come from the surface for Mom; instead, it flowed from her dedication to prayer & worship, and her immersion into the Bible. Mom spent countless sleepless nights in prayer; days studying the Bible; and throughout her life, she worshiped the Lover of her soul - her King and God, Jesus Christ.
Mom was passionate for her family and community. She sacrificially Loved her family - her husband of 42 years, Daniel Garris; all 14 of her children and their spouses; her 26 (and counting!) grandchildren; and her extended and spiritually adopted family around the world! Mom shined warm light for all - including for those most wouldn’t dare. She advocated for the needs of the broken, the helpless, the sick, and the outcast, and shined past the grime and darkness others shunned.
Mom was a Warrior Princess who would fight for you when necessary, yet cherish each moment other moment she shared with you. Her personality was magnetic, and if you met her once, you were family. She beautifully perfected her life‘s calling: “Come Unto Me, All…” (Matt 11:28), and she was determined even to the last minute to fulfill that Heavenly calling.
Mom is dancing with her Heavenly Father, on the Streets of Gold now, but the legacy she left is far reaching. From constantly exclaiming “JESUS LOVES YOU!” to all, to sharing the Gospel to all (including personally sharing 40,000 “Father’s Love Letter” tracts), the harvest Mom’s wonderful Life brought is astonishing.
What would her final wish for us be? That we celebrate and share the Love and salvation of Jesus Christ.
