Anita A Wallace

Obituary Anita A. Wallace, 98, of Irving, Texas, passed away on July 21, 2020. She was born on August 7, 1921 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Louis and Margie Altenburg. Anita was a loving person who had a deep love for Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She prayed for her family every day and read her bible and daily devotionals. Anita enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting and crocheting. In her later years she always wanted to help prepare the meals and guarded her family's chocolate pie recipe for 90 years before finally sharing it with her daughter. Anita had an amazing green thumb and was always working in her yard. If she wasn't busy cooking or gardening she was crocheting everything from blankets to wash cloths. As a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Irving, she was active in knitting hats for the church's annual Christmas Samaritan's Purse Shoebox drive. One of her last years to make them, she knitted 200 hats. Anita liked to think of the little kids having the hats to keep them warm. She loved spending time at the beach and playing board and card games with her family. Anita also loved to drive and probably should've had her keys taken long before they were. Most of all Anita loved her family and spending time with them. She would have done anything for them and loved and adored them with her whole heart. Anita is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Wallace; parents, Louis Henry and Margie Altenburg; sons, Charles Wallace II and Bruce Wallace. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Walker and husband, Harold; grandsons, Ken Phipps, Kevin Phipps and wife, Donna; granddaughters, Anita Ann, Samantha Wallace, Cody Wallace, Tom Wallace; great grandchildren, Julia Phipps, Kenny Phipps, Mark Phipps, Gabe Phipps, Matthew Phipps, and Sophie Phipps; among numerous other family and friends. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 26th from 1-3 pm at Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving. Graveside services will be on July 27th at 10:00 am at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving.
