Loving husband, father, PaPa, son, brother and Uncle Alton "Mark" Johnston passed away peacefully in his sleep on 1-8-22 at approximately 10:20am at his home in Grapevine, Tx.
Born 11-21-1954 in Los Angeles, Ca to Wendell & Peggy Johnston, Mark was the oldest son of 4 siblings.
Mark moved to Texas from California in 1978. By 1980 he was hired by IBM as a customer service engineer, a career that spanned over 37 years. Something Mark was very proud of.
Known for his keen intellect and swift sense of humor Mark could always make anybody laugh and hold down a conversation on just about any topic.
An avid fisherman, Mark was especially fond of BASS fishing and won several trophies fishing in the Grapevine BASS Club. He looked forward to teaching his grandson Ezra how to fish.
Another hobby of Marks was learning to cook different types of cuisine with his wife Maria.
Mark was preceded in death by older sister Marla Ferne, mother Peggy, both maternal and paternal grandparents as well as several aunts and uncles.
Mark leaves behind his father Wendell, loving wife, Maria, beloved daughter Caitlin, son-in-law Andrew, grandson Ezra, soon to be granddaughter Esther, Wendy (Caitlin's mother & Marks 1st wife). Sister Janna (Janna's husband Ken, nephews Daniel, Matthew, Scott, great niece Cameryn) brother Brian (Brian's wife Marti, niece Rebecca and great niece Katie) as well as his two adored dachshunds Cash & Hans.
Special thanks to Carla and David Davis of Chism-Smith funeral home for making a difficult process seem painless.
Mark, you are dearly missed.
Hope you're up there catching the big ones!!
Until we meet again, you're in our hearts forever.
