With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alexander Martinez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, coach, and friend. He passed away on January 27, 2025, at the age of 54. Born on September 8, 1970, in Dallas, Texas, Alexander was the son of Alfonso Martinez and Dolores Mary Olivera. He spent his childhood in California, where he attended Franklin High School before earning a college degree in agriculture.
Alexander was a dedicated and hardworking man, building a successful career as a Chief Engineer. His faith as a devout Catholic guided him throughout his life, shaping the values of love, integrity, and service that he instilled in his family and community.
One of Alexander’s greatest passions was baseball. Not only was he an avid fan of the game, but he also dedicated countless hours to coaching young athletes, mentoring them both on and off the field. His players continued to call him “Coach,” a testament to the lasting impact he had on their lives. His love for baseball was more than a hobby—it was a way to inspire and shape future generations.
On June 15, 2002, Alexander married the love of his life, Michelle Martinez, and together they built a family full of love, strength, and unwavering support. He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Samantha Tuscana and husband Marshall Tuscana, Kim Martinez, Amanda Martinez, Alexander Martinez Jr. and wife Jackie Martinez, Tony Whitten, and Jay Whitten and wife Carla Whitten. He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandsons and 12 granddaughters, who brought him endless joy.
Alexander also leaves behind his father, Alfonso M. Martinez; his sister, Christina Martinez; and his brothers, Alfonso Martinez Jr., Jeffrey Martinez, Larry Martinez, and Yael Majalca. He was cherished by one nephew, seven nieces, two great-nephews, and five great-nieces, as well as many beloved cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Martinez, his grandmothers, Ruth Miranda and Emma Martinez; and his parents-in-law, David and Lupe Bambico.
Alexander’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family and community will live on through the countless lives he touched. His love for baseball, his guidance as a coach, and his unwavering support as a husband, father, and grandfather will never be forgotten. His family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, watching over them with love.
