With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Agnello Joseph Mendes on November 14, 2024, at the age of 63. Born to Lawrence and Thereza Mendes on November 5, 1961, Agnello was deeply cherished by his family, which instilled in him the values of love and devotion.
Agnello pursued a vigorous academic path, obtaining his Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas. This not only broadened his business skills but also deeply enriched his professional life. He later joined the staff at the University of Dallas on August 17, 1996, where he became a beloved member of the community. Agnello served as the Manager of COB Services since 2011 but to all at work, he was so much more than that. Per a statement released from the President's Office at the University of Dallas, "If you ever walked into SB Hall, you were greeted by one of the most hospitable individuals ever to walk the face of the earth”.
A devout Catholic, Agnello lived his faith wholeheartedly and upheld its values throughout his life. He enjoyed a variety of interests, including reading, cooking, and cinema, each reflecting his love for storytelling and culinary arts, which delighted both family and friends.
Agnello was predeceased by his loving parents, Lawrence and Thereza Mendes, who profoundly influenced his life.
Agnello's memory will be treasured as one of warmth, intelligence, and deep faith. Those who knew him felt the profound impact of his presence in their lives and will feel his absence just as deeply.
Agnello is survived by his brother: Anthony Mendes, sister's: Zelma Mendes, Alice Mendes, brother-in-law: Anthony Walters, Clarence, Jim, Prashant , sister-in-law's: Judy, Christine, Sandra, Jenny, nephews: Elton Lobo, Sheldon Lobo, Cameron, nieces: Isabelle Walters, Angel Lobo, Courtney, Daniella, Renee, Viveka , Anjali, cousins: Victor, Bonny, Sheila, Sunita, Sandra, Sergio, Soraia, aunts: Alina, Julia, Joanita, Nalini, close friends and their families: Terry, Neetu, Lubna, Rachna, Seema, Madhu, Neelo, Victoria, Huma, Ayesha, Peter, Uzma, Wilhelm, Imtiaz, Alaul, Mary, Hasna, Ambreen,Geetika,Asima,Shurti,Saniya. He also leaves behind an extended family at the University of Dallas/College of Business, who valued his counsel and companionship greatly.
As we say goodbye to a beloved soul who enlightened us on the essence of community, love, and living a purposeful life, Agnello's spirit will continue to inspire us. May he rest in heaven's glory.
